Biography
Haylee Chavanne is the Director of Undergraduate Studies and Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Africana Studies. Their work is grounded in the belief that education is most meaningful when students feel challenged, supported, and empowered to think critically about the world around them. As such, they strive to create learning environments that are intellectually rigorous, inclusive, and centered on curiosity.
They earned their PhD in English from the University of Notre Dame. Their research and teaching interests include the intersections of African American literature, Black feminist theory, and narrative, with particular attention to questions of relation, identity, and power.
